[Verse: Hope Star]
If the sky was falling, the kids won't even notice
Too busy, staring at the ground, mumble "Yes sir" and hope that the worst won't happen
When they get to school, they'll try and cover the bruises, afraid that their teacher might ask where they got them
And then the kids will have to lie and say
"Sorry ma'am but I fell down the stairs,"
And they'll stare at the ground, hoping that the worst won't happen and their teacher won't call the cops
Because thеy've been to a foster home, and thеy know that it makes everything worse
'Cause the foster parents aren't any better, they'll even starve them
And yeah you can try and ignore it, but the truth is that 115 thousand kids are physically abused every year
And yeah we should change that but this is America, my dear
Not to get off topic but the real truth is that kindergarteners are gunned down
And children are beaten
The education system's jacked up
And there's nothing we can do about it
Or can we?
Yes we might not have a lot of power but the future's in our hands
It's up to this generation to take a stand
Because without our children, what is left for this world?
Utter extinction and atrocities untold
And yet kids are getting beaten and bruised
Lying, making up excuses, 'cause they know what dad might do if he finds out that they told
So they'll lie and they'll say, "Oh don't worry ma'am. I fell down the stairs, it might look suspicious but they don't care,"
They've been threatened with foster care and told they're worth nothing
"If even I don't want you, what random family will?
Keep quiet, stop judging,"
'Cause in time they'll learn something
The world ain't on their side, there isn't much future ahead
But trust me darling
Life is better than this
You're worth diamonds and anyone with eyes can see it
It's not your fault that they hurt you, that you're torn up and bleeding
Baby it's okay to cry and even though you can't see it
Someone's gonna love you and cherish you and they won't let you hurt unneeded
So speak up, tell your teacher 'bout your parents
I know you think you should love them and can't turn them in
But this sorrow in your soul isn't your fault, you shouldn't have to bear all the beating and screaming and worthless scares
You're worth more than this, so pick up the phone
Call 1800-799-7233 and tell them about your situation at home
