[Intro: Jaylin]

Allow me to better preface this project is a series of poems and essay pieces there will be an explanation on the subject matter then a poem showcasing my lyrical ability. Think of this as more of a mixtape reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, for those uninformed the young artist intermixes a poem which he later explains the meaning at the end of the album throughout this poem is repeated adding more and more to it as the album progresses; the poem ultimately paints this grand image and the final track give you a story. Given that this is an essay not an album I feel explanation is key.

[Verse: Jaylin]
Putting together elements since elementary
Color pencils for the backpacker
Pushing paper bags for plastic women
Who pay in straight cash
Scribbled down lessons
Perfect performance in writing classes
Lost thoughts in not books like it was my glasses
Snatched every lyric out of Yeezus mouth could replace back backwards
Humble beginning still mumbled verse in public
Say you push work but actually you work at Publix
Played your role like a court position
Denzel your only inspiration
Take crap don’t relax King cruel with Zero patience
Swallowed pride vomited lies
Closeted actions I put the mask up
Dad back in the house rowdy kids fear to act up

Took eight years got my license
Still working on perfecting my persona
Broke back boring beats
Track is nothing without my vocals

Dance like Elvis Presley
Look like Bo Diddle
Impressed written text for my ancestors
Forgotten past I resurrect the dead

Money money money
Never stacked cash for the suited man
Many bent back boys laid bricks
To build a path to excellence
Not because I’m black just excellent
Placed real facts on vinyl wax
Pool parties on rooftops Just to play homage
Bleached blonde tip
To honey mud
I spread my heart on basslines
Trapping out the bandwidth
I leave suburbs to broken down shacks
First impressions that define my authenticity
Asthma attacks over boom bap
Maybe Kris will be impressed
Dreams of showcasing my teen spirit
Carry torches struck by X’s
Imitators down in Texas
Find a piece of mind

For a peace of mine
Distorted noises in my garden of sound
My thoughts dark but profound
Warmth in a cold world
Play the normal kid
Tube socks and the air max
Maximize my chance
Placed passion poems to perfection
Now where should I start my selection
