BE STRONG IN GRACE
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2Timothy 2:1
The grace of God that makes great has been given to every one of us. In other words, every child of God has been given grace. Therefore, none of us lacks grace. In Ephesians 4:7, the scripture says “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ”
It is this grace that distinguishes us from the rest of the world. Although, the grace of God appeared to all men but all men have not seen and received it. The bible says “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men” (Titus 2:11). For anyone to access this grace he will need to receive the gift of faith and faith is imparted when the gospel is heard. Romans 5:2 says “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God” We have access or admission into grace by faith. Therefore, the grace that has appeared unto all men can only be accessed by faith.
Moreover, the scripture says “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). We that have received Jesus Christ have received faith and therefore we have access to the grace of God. The charge we’re now given is that we should be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. If we’re told to be strong in grace; that means there is a propensity for us to be weak in grace. For us to be strong in grace, we need to allow the grace of God to influence us.
We’re told in Titus 2:12-14 “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” In other words, grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. That means, as we exercise ourselves toward godliness by practising the word, we become strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Grace also teaches us and therefore empowering us to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. Becoming strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus demands that we fix our gaze on Jesus who is Grace-personified. Hebrews 12:2
Prayer
I am strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. I constantly look unto Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of my faith.
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
