A tired king wore
A weary brow for a crown
Upon his broken back a heavy cross
That weights him down
His calloused hands but a cradle now
For his wrinkled forehead
Yet still he lingers on while greater men
Lay forgotten and dead
Silent as ever, old age crept up
And as he approached nearer
There was a strange familiarity
In the eyes staring from the mirror
Oh, heavy heart of an old soul
In such a fragile husk
With a misty eye, a heartfelt smile
Awaiting the final dusk
A weary brow for a crown
Upon his broken back a heavy cross
That weights him down
His calloused hands but a cradle now
For his wrinkled forehead
Yet still he lingers on while greater men
Lay forgotten and dead
Silent as ever, old age crept up
And as he approached nearer
There was a strange familiarity
In the eyes staring from the mirror
Oh, heavy heart of an old soul
In such a fragile husk
With a misty eye, a heartfelt smile
Awaiting the final dusk
