Speech by Henrik Clarke
Verse One
Western civilization came like a hurricane
Years of humiliation and cultural erosion
Turning us into dum dums and living dead zombies
Consumers, kungomuka kungofunga kutsvaga dhombi
Hwindi aripa mushika-shika busy ku loader kombi
Many trading talents just for 8 – 5 ku office
While some they earn a decent living eating off their hobbies
Who cares? Multinationals create more opportunities
So long you not starving, never mind about your dignity
We take pride in our ability to speak our master’s language fluently
And follow instructions, no need for evidence
Yet the global system still questions our competence
They use their tools and facts to measure our intelligence
And we define ourselves with their terms of reference
We expected blacks who went to get educated west
And came back thinking like the wests
To solve problems in Africa for Africans
And then we wonder why we stuck in this state of nothingness
Henrik Clarke Speaks
(Welcome to the house of chaos and confusion x2)
Verse Two
It’s hard to believe we were kings and queens for ages
Matter of the fact is we are at the bottom
We are at the bottom of the hierarchy of races
We not inferior we just forgot the native knowledge
Culture matters, and for everything there are right places
Academic spaces girls attending classes semi-naked
Revealing garments, you see its freedom of expression
The lecturers are often accused of sexual harassment
Schools produce educated fools it’s an embarrassment
We can’t feed ourselves more than half of us are starving
We up in armed conflicts, diseases and corruption
Too many churches, why? Because most of us are poor
Afraid and superstitious and uncertain ‘bout the future
We force to be part of a system that subjugates us
Peripherize us, the media sexualize us
And we betray us
He house is in a turmoil and the blame is on the leaders
We always expecting someone to lead us
