I feel that I'm lost in the wood
Can't seem to see what's the good
And I just won't allow that I'd break a bough—
Then again, it's now that I find
There's no ignoring the signs
Beckoning back to the pines

I've sat by a sycamore
A willow wields no allure
To call it evergreen leaves no in-between
Me, I've never seen something last

Is that just a thing of the past?
And can I go back to the pines?

How I wish I could stay where the palm trees all sway
With the breeze by the bay in golden sands
But as far as I can see it's just not meant to be
There's but one tree for me, and there it stands

Whеre the moon is the only light
In thе forest I find at night
I pray when that new day comes
That I'm not undone
By the noon-day sun when it shines
'cause I'll end up back in the pines

To call it evergreen leaves no in-between
Me, I've never seen something last—
