So, it must've been, um, 2009
And I was supposed to play a show
My friend Tommy who ran the venue, it was his birthday
And someone had took him a couple of these
Pre-wrapped little Reese's Cup chocolates
And had sort of implied that they were special
And so, he was like, "I think these are mushroom chocolates
I don't know, do you wanna do this 'cause it's my birthday?"
And I said, "Sure"
About an hour passes and we see each other and we're like
"Think that those are just standard chocolates" and then like
Another forty-five minutes passes and we're like
"Not chocolates, not just regular chocolates"
And around that same time, he introduced me to you
And he said, "Hey, this is my friend, Jason 71
Uh, I think you guys will get along"
Went out and smoked a cigarette and started talking about music
And didn't stop for like an hour and a half, you know?
And suddenly, I forgot that I was supposed to play a show
And so I went inside and played this trippy show where I was talking to my hands and
And it, it was kind of one of the first times that I really felt like I
I was actually playing the kind of music that I was writing in front of a crowd, and you saw that
I'm not sure if, I, I'm not sure if you had ever seen me play before, I think you hadn't
It was the first time I saw you play (Yeah)
Yeah, and then afterwards you were like, "I have something for you"
And laid the heaviest shit on me ever
And was like, "I have a 1932 Gibson L-7 guitar that was
Belonged to my grandma's boyfriend who horribly burned his hands in a bunker fire
And had to rebreak the cartilage in his fingers to play it
And, uh, I'd like you to play it"
And I was like, "You said what?"
