OVERTURE

INTRO: I REMEMBER

I walked through a field, the colors around brought thoughts of beauty

Times had changed, I remembered, voices, so many voices the spirit was raw and torn, stretched thin from the constant pull of a thousand hands

As the summer sky turned to autumn and the colors of my heart were changed I felt

Heavy

I remember

Not the light memories of my youth, but the weight, wait

The crushing weight that was upon my shoulders, that strengthened my resolve

Cold
My back is broken, the wrists are red and my feet have grown callous, the snake winds around my ankles

No longer am I what I am, I am what I've become. Stronger, my wrists are healed through You, my ankles bear their scars. My hands are strong but soft as if with wisdom

I feel the grass, I remember

PART 1: THE PAST

Gazing into the past, gone so fast
You've lost your independence away
So long ago the mold was cast

Without anything to say
No honest thought left today

Goodbye soul

PART 2: MIND DESIGNS

Where I stand isn't known to me
But where I walk I am free
The places I've been
Are lost to sea
But still remain in my memory
I
Design
Castles deep in my mind
I
Resign
To break apart and redefine

Where have they gone, my gentle friend
What are these scars on hands that once steel
Could bend
How was it lost, all things must end
Have you forsaken me, your spirit is mine to mend

I
Design
Castles deep in my mind
I
Resign
To break apart and redefine

PART 3: THE STRUGGLE

PART 4: RETROSPECTION
You'll calculate to reevaluate
Look out and disassociate
You'll seek yourself through others eyes
Just to keep your own disguise

PART 5: LOSING FAITH

Now that you've made up your mind
You can find someone else to share
They'll share with you their truth
And now you've lost your way

How many times can fate provide?
An astral door through which to hide
The longest night is closing in
The single thing you ever had
The single thing you ever had
Is gone

PART 6: FRACTURED ADOLESCENCE

You'll calculate to reevaluate
Look out and disassociate
You'll seek yourself through others eyes
Just to keep your own disguise

Great divide, couldn't hide
Look outside, the place where you reside
Now resign, and recline inside
Sheltered mind

You always seek assimilation
To help avoid humiliation
Your images are made of clay
To shape but never long to stay

Great divide, couldn't hide
Look outside, the place where you reside
Now resign, and recline inside
Sheltered mind

CONCLUSION: THE COVENANT

I will walk with you
For through you all things can I achieve

I will not rest or want
I will be for you and thus for myself

I will not be for anyone else
I will strive for this
