On a corner of the streets of any town
Stands a man who life forgot, he's goin' down
His family wrote him off as crazy many years ago;
His friends left him as someone it’s better not to know
So the streets took him as one of their own
The open streets became his home
And he lays his body down, an offering to the ground
On the corner of the streets of any town
A habit clung to him, and bound him. It won't let go
The pain that wracks his body means he can't say no
He wants someone to unbind him
He needs someone to be kind to him
It could be you, it could be me
But we just go on living, as we please
And the streets took him as one of their own
The grimy streets became his home
And he lays his body down, an offering to the ground
On the corner of the streets – of any town
I walk on by, I glance at him, I turn my head away
I want to say something, want to make it right
But I don't know what to say
There's a place in my heart that only God can open
There I hear the words which He has spoken
I turn to the man and look in his eyes so blue
I turn to him and look and there find You
For Jesus said we would find Him in the least of you
There was a man who came to earth from above
His heart and mind were made of love
He laid His body down on a cross of wood
I wonder if the world has misunderstood
And he lays his body down
An offering to the ground
The least of all around, the corner of the streets of any town
Stands a man who life forgot, he's goin' down
