(Backstage. A spot discovers DOYLE, alone. He stands, almost catatonic in his grief, next to a large funeral wreath. We hear MAYBELLE's voice with music under, as she еnters. During the following, the rеst of the COMPANY joins her - in two's and three's - a jacket, a scarf, a kimono thrown over a costume, as they steal this time between shows to "remember" GUS. They move past DOYLE, looking at him sympathetically as they take places, blacks and whites automatically separated.)
