There’s no better way to start my day then with a hot cup of joe. As soon as my eyes open in the morning, I immediately start to crave that first sip of coffee. You may think I have a serious addiction to caffeine but I promise you that’s not the case. It’s not the coffee or the caffeine that I crave, it’s the actual act of drinking coffee that I adore. There’s something about the aroma that fills the house when it’s brewing, and nestling up with a large warm mug that feels so comforting to me.
If you’re passionate about coffee like I am then I’m sure you’ve dished out one too many dollars at Starbucks for a premium latte. Not only are those Starbucks latte’s too expensive but they are packed with tons of sugar and one too many calories. So of course I came up with the genius idea to create my own slimmed down version at home. I wasn’t interested in cluttering my countertops with one more kitchen gadget, so I found this nifty tool that froths your milk without steam called the Aero Latte. I purchased mine from Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% off coupon, but you can also find them on Amazon.
Here’s my step by step tutorial on making your own fancy latte at home. I prefer using almond milk to lighten things up, but feel free to use regular milk.
P1030705Step 1: In a separate cup poor your desired amount of milk. I started out with a 1/2 cup of almond milk which turned into a full cup once I was done frothing. (The milk must be cold or room temperature, the milk will not froth if it is hot)
P1030693Step 2: Place the whisk into your milk and turn the Aero Latte on. Stir until the milk is done frothing.
P1030700Step 3: Tease your pup and ask her if she wants some. :) Once your milk is all frothed up, combine coffee and milk into your mug.

It’s A Protein Bake Off w/ Awesome Prizes!

My good friend Erin made a huge batch of protein goodies before she headed off on vacation. A little food prep can go such a long way, especially when you have two hungry growing little boys. Thanks for sharing the picture Erin, I hope the protein treats were a winner with the kids.

Thanks to all you busy little bakers out there I’ve come up with an awesome contest idea. I am giving you guys the reins to use your creativity in the kitchen and formulate your own protein muffin recipes. Trust me you want to partake in the contest because my friends at Box Junkie and PR Wraps want to shower the winners with awesome gifts!
Here’s how it works:
The first 10 contestants to submit their recipes via any social media outlet will be allowed to participate.
Your ingredients must include any protein powder of your choice.
In your post please name the list of all ingredients including the amount, bake time, and oven temperature.
You are only allowed to use a total of 6 ingredients or less.
Tag @Life_Outside_The_Box, @Box_Junkie_Apparel & @PRwraps in your picture.
Once the first 10 contestants have submitted their entries I will then bake each of their recipes and have a panel of four judges cast a vote as to who’s muffins are the best.
THE PRIZE
The contestant with the best muffins will win a FREE Box Junkie Apparel shirt & a pair of PR Wraps. I will also feature your recipe on the blog in your honor.
Also the contestant with the most “likes” on instagram or facebook will win a FREE Box Junkie Apparel shirt & a pair of PR Wraps.
